1. Information We Collect

When you use StrangerHelp, we collect:

  • Account Information: Name, email address, password (encrypted), city, phone number, and profile photo.
  • Task Data: Task titles, descriptions, categories, locations, budgets, attachments, and completion proofs you upload.
  • Messages: All direct messages between task posters and claimers are stored in our database to ensure accountability and dispute resolution.
  • Transaction Records: We store records of task postings, claims, completions, and payment confirmations exchanged via messages.
  • Location Data: When you use Live Pulse or post/claim tasks, your approximate location may be stored.

2. How We Use Your Data

  • To facilitate task matching between posters and claimers
  • To store messages for accountability and dispute resolution
  • To maintain transaction history of completed tasks
  • To verify task completion through uploaded proofs
  • To improve our platform and user experience

3. Data Sharing — We Do NOT Share

We do not share, sell, or transfer your personal data to any third parties.

Your messages, task data, transaction records, and personal information remain strictly within our platform. No third-party analytics, advertising networks, or data brokers have access to your data.

4. Payment Information

Important: Direct Payment Model

Currently, payments are made directly between the task poster and the claimer. StrangerHelp does not process, hold, or intermediate any payments. We do not store your UPI IDs, bank details, or payment credentials.

The Karma Wallet (escrow-based payment system) is coming soon and will provide secure payment intermediation.

5. Data Storage & Security

  • Passwords are encrypted using bcrypt hashing
  • All data is stored in our secure MongoDB database
  • Session cookies are httpOnly and expire after 7 days
  • Uploaded files are stored on our servers and not shared externally

6. Your Rights

You can:

  • Access and update your profile data at any time
  • Delete your account (Settings → Danger Zone)
  • Request a copy of your stored data by contacting us
